Texas is poised to become a powerhouse state in the next century, provided it votes for those who uphold conservative values and avoids those who push for failed blue state policies.
Never ceases to amaze me how people flee the problems caused by blue state policies and head to solid red states, but like the Bubonic plague, they bring their blue-state-rainbow sentiments with them without realizing that once woke virus catches and takes hold, it will cause the same social disorders they were fleeing from in the first place.
I’m (mostly) sympathetic to newcomers. The RINO thing seems endemic to most Southern red states. Texas flipped red under George W Bush, so we’re still seeing the remnants of that generation of conservatives kowtowing to special interests as always. By contrast, Florida really flipped red under DeSantis (Jeb and Rick Scott were moderate/tea party types) so they’re much more in line with the MAGA generation.
What’s striking is the parallel between the Texas congress and the federal one. A majority that isn’t quite a majority, thus necessitating a strong executive to do the thing anyway. We’ll see who succeeds Abbott (who is mainly part of the old guard). I’m sure I’ll still be one of the few writers who bothers saying anything about it when it happens 🙄.
I've met up with some Florida teachers. They're also doing some interesting things with merit pay, which to me, is just as big a deal as implementing a voucher system and creating new charter schools.
I was more hopeful we'd have a better chance for school choice with the new state congress, but then we did the RINO thing which will either water down what was originally intended or frozen altogether.

A big reason I chose Florida over Texas was that Florida has school choice and Texas we still don’t know.

“… redneck incompetence…”
Careful now.
The remainder of your article this redneck finds well said.
Hehehe, I count myself among this tribe. Rest assured, it comes from a place of love.
