This is the best summary of the argument I’ve read in a long time; indeed, perhaps the best summary of the crux of the issue l’ve seen yet. More l’m tempted to add, but that is enough to start. Excellently done.

Good article. Might I suggest for further reading, JPII's "Theology of the Body"? Or, if you just want an appetizer, Christopher West's "Theology of the Body for Beginners". I promise you'd find this to be a fascinating supplement to the road you've already endeavored to traverse here. God bless you, sir.

A person is a live human being. Claiming that some people can be defined as non-people by the state is a vicious lie. Once the rulers make that decision, the atrocities flow from it, like water down a mountain.

We fought, bled, and died to put our equal protection clause in the Constitution. To have nine attorneys go into a room and say with a straight face they don't know what a "person" is? If you don't know, quit your job. If you can't define humanity, and protect it, you can't follow our Constitution. Your oath is vapor. A person is a live human being.

The Constitution does not say when people die, or when life begins. Those are questions to be decided by elected representatives. But what our Constitution does say, explicitly, is that groups of people are not to be singled out and dehumanized by the state, and put outside the law.
